Full of Advice Friday

I have lots of good advice,(or so I think.) And since I have so much of it I think I'll share.

My first bit of advice comes from years of having kids that wear socks. You should make sure that all of your socks are the same no matter if you have a girl or boy. For example I just buy the Hanes (not affiliated) white crew socks....for everyone. This way even if your washer and dryer eats one or two socks, or your kids have half of them hiding under their beds or covers it won't matter, you'll still be able to pull similar socks out of the basket, that you meant to fold and put away, the first couple of tries. It doesn't matter so much if it's the same size as long as you can get it on the foot and the child is wearing long pants.

Now sometimes a pair or two of socks will slip through your door and be different than the white crew socks. Maybe it has pink butterflies or Thomas the Tank Engine, (again not affiliated). This happens and is no fault of your own. (Here we blame the Grandparents who love their grandchildren so much that they even want to bring them joy through socks). No need to worry you can still quickly pull socks from the basket all you need is a pair of these.

Boots. Yep boots. Kids love boots and moms should too. These babies hide a multitude of, unmatching sock, sin. So every child should have one pair of boots, that fit, at all times.

That's my advice for today. Stay tuned next week when I disperse even more mom wisdom to the masses.

Edited: I had every intention of posting this last Friday, but couldn't find my camera to take a picture of the boots. I still can't find the camera, I did, however just learn how to edit the size of the pictures.

We went to get socks for Seporah last week and I picked a pack with a bunch of different colors. Steven vetoed that and picked up a pack of 10 pairs that matched exactly. Seporah doesn't seem to care either way ;)

Wow, I had that thought once, and ended up for a while with two kinds of socks, black and white. But then one day I was in Fred Meyer and the whole thing blew up in an explosion of argyle. Now the argyle socks are my favorite and I'm sad when I have to wear the black ones.

I hate socks, it seems like half my life is spent dealing with SOCKS!! i have a hat box in my laundry basket to house orphan socks.... it's always full. WHERE DO THEY GO????

Doesn't matter where they go, as long as you have boots.

ok this is a little hard for the auntie who loves crazy socks (after reading dad's comments i think it is hereditary and will forever blame my love of crazy socks on him) but now i know fun socks must be paired with boots.
i am a dork who would try and match the level of whiteness, yes i have done it with gary's socks. now i throw out all the old ones when he gets new ones so whites can match..... i could never raise children i would go insane. and they would need more therapy than we could ever afford!
i look forward to your next "full of advice 'friday'"

No, no, Sarah, fun socks can be worn with shoes if you can find a matching pair. We never get pairs found and washed at the same time, and sometimes we run out of matching socks. That's when you get out the boots. With boots you never have to match socks, 'cause no one can see them, so it doesn't matter.

is it bad that i put my kids in tennis shoes and none matching socks?? we have no boots. if someone says something i usally reply, well, at least they are not naked!!

oh yeah, and if they are wearing non-matching socks i make sure they REALLY don't match, like hearts and green stripes.

What does it say about this family that the most responded to blog entry is about SOCKS? This is very strange. I deny any association with this whole issue. Sarah, you need to take responsibility for your own odd relationship to footwear, don't blame me!
