Working on SWAP

I let my kids have the week off of school. We'll start again Mon. Maybe Tues. since Monday is Super A's birthday. This means that I can focus on the SWAP or cleaning my house or looking at the internet, because my foot hurts,'cause I think I might have a planters wart on it. (It really, really does hurt!! But I don't want to drive all the way to my doctor 20 min. away, pay my co-pay, and then be told to go get the medicine over the counter.)

My placemats are comin' together. I haven't been able to get to know the person I'm sending my placemats and napkins too very well, so I hope (crossing my fingers) that she likes what she gets!!!

So, for the sake of the person sending me placemats,(because I'm so nervous about sending my placemats out) I just want you to know I'll LOVE ANYTHING you send!!! My everyday plates are white from Ikea, and my house is multi-colored, from baby blue walls to apple green. I just hung up the Alexander fruit fabric in blue in my kitchen window.

I also just made myself an apron with browns and aquas.

Oh, and one in goldy-yellow and green.
I L O V E Colors any kind. Doesn't matter!! I'm just excited to get a package in the mail!

I made a bunch of bags for prizes at a baby shower. I think the prizes were too big. I had never made the bag before and didn't realize how big they were. They turned out cute. They are all variations from the Bend the Rules sewing book. I really like the book and may have to buy it. I keep borrowing it from the library, but the amount of time that it stays at my house I feel a little like I'm hogging it! The top one was my favorite!! I was really sad to let that one go, but it just was not in me to make another bag!!!!!!

I'll be making more of the top bag, but I'll be putting more interfacing in it to help it stand up.

Please don't mind the weeds. It's been a very rainy, cold, spring. We haven't really had a chance to go out and work on the yard.

HAPPY FATHER'S DAY!!

I love you Dad!!

It's Still Raining!

Yesterday it hit the all time high of 66 degrees....inside the house! I gave up and turned on the heat today. The wind howled most of the evening. It seemed to stop about the time I fell asleep. Today's not as windy, but it is still grey and rainy and cold!!

I JUST WANT TO BE WARM!!!!!!! I JUST WANT TO SEE THE SUN ONCE EVERY COUPLE OF WEEKS!!!!Is that to much to ask for? BBRRRRRR

I'm off to find another sweater.

I just joined a SWAP

I'll be swapping place mats and napkins from Bend the Rules Sewing by Amy Karol. This is the second swap from her book. The first was a pleated bag. Just looking at the photos of those pleated bags makes me wish I had joined, but really they are so beautiful I'm kind of glad I didn't. I'm not sure mine would have been so nice!

I have a great idea for the place mats! I can not wait to get started!

There have been a couple of swaps that I've wanted to join recently, but I just didn't think I had the time to do it or the creativity. Seriously... have you seen all the creativity in blogland??? It's amazing!! Where do people come up with their ideas?

Super J has either a sinus infection or allergies. I stayed home from church because every time I looked at him he had gads of snot running into his mouth. It was really gross. I couldn't send my little boy into nursery like that. Plus he slept terrible last night and Super Dad and I knew he would get a better, much needed nap with everyone gone. I'm definitely taking him to the Doctor tomorrow. I won't leave until the Dr. gives me antibiotics or allergy meds.
Would you like to see what I've been doing the last two days? Here it is.... LAUNDRY!!!
(Pretty brave airing my dirty, I mean clean laundry, huh?)

These days laundry makes me want to cry. I find clean clothes on the laundry room floor, on the kids floor and in the hallway dirty from being stepped on. They are the same clothes over and over. I think the kids throw them out of their dressers or knock them off their hangers trying to get to the clothes that are comfortable or have some cool pic. on them.

Why, I ask you, do I keep all of these clothes if they don't wear them and I have to keep washing them over and over and over? It drives me nuts!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

So, here is my solution. Everyone gets 4 short sleeve shirts, 4 long sleeve shirts, 4 pants, 4 shorts and church pants and a long and short sleeve shirt for church. This list looks a little long to me, but I think it will be the right number of clothes.

As of right now, I have two very full bags to take to Goodwill and one very full bag to give to my SIL for hand-me-downs. I still look around me and want to cry. It doesn't seem like I've really diminished the mountain of clothing. You saw the picture. I still have clothes in the dryer, odds and ends on the floor. (I made the kids go get every stitch of clothing to be washed and put away or gotten rid of. I'm not so sure that ways a good idea.) At this point I wish I had taken everything to the laundry mat. I could have been done in just a couple of hours and gotten rid of the clothes we didn't want in one fell swoop. Oh well, live and learn, I'm sure that eventually I'll have to do this again. SIGH
